On Wednesday, May 27th, the Gospel of Life Group at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish hosted Dr. Janet Smith as part of the Dignity of Life Speaker Series. Professor Smith holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. She is the author of Humanae Vitae: A Generation Later and editor of Why Humanae Vitae Was Right: A Reader. With Christopher Kaczor she also authored Life Issues, Medical Choices, Questions and Answers for Catholics. She has published many articles on ethical and bioethical issues and over a million copies of her talk, Contraception: Why Not have been distributed. In this homily from the 10 AM mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Fr. Riccardo encourages the congregation to witness their faith by living a life of peace in the midst of uncertainty.

On May 19th, Fr. Riccardo spoke to the Men's Fellowship Group of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish concerning the faith challenges that young men and women face during their college years. In this talk titled Faith Under Attack, Fr. John offers his insights on keeping the faith while in college.

On Wednesday, April 29th, the Gospel of Life Group at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish hosted Sr. Mary Ellen Dougherty, SSND, as part of the Dignity of Life Speaker Series. Sr. Mary Ellen served as Coordinator of Education and Outreach in the Anti-Human Trafficking Department at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. She is a regular speaker and writer on the topic of the trafficking of foreign nationals in the U.S.

In this homily for Mothers' Day, Fr. Riccardo encourages the congregation to persevere in love of God just as a mother shows steadfast perseverance in the love of her children.

While reflecting on today's scripture readings, Fr. Riccardo asks the congregation, "Do you know who you are?"

Each year Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish School celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel with a Streamer Day mass to recognize the eighth grade students who will soon complete their final studies at the elementary school.
